Sunday Stampers week 50 - Owls

The theme for the Sunday Stampers (http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/) this week is Owls. I've used 2 of Tim Holtz's techniques (check out his demo videos - http://timholtz.com/demos.html) I didn't have an airspray can as he uses for the alcohol inks tag, I used a straw not exactly the same effect but similar. The other one is using a paint dabber as a resist.

Wrapped Wire Doll number2

I've finally got round to making another one of these. This one is a lot bigger than the first and I'm happier with it. They are inspired by the wire armature dolls in 'Cloth Dolls for Textile Artists' by Ray Slater. Her eyes are a bit far apart I think, but then I'm no artist lol

Sunday Stampers week 49

Well I haven't taken part in this for some time now. This week's theme is CATS. I dyed some silk square samples I've had for ages and stamped a cat on. This is one of the first stamps I bought. I haven't decided what to do with the silk yet, but may incorporate it into something else. I used salt on the dyed pieces but it's worked better on the blue, perhaps it was wetter.

Embroidered boxes

At the cloth doll group I go to we're currently making embriodered boxes. Intead of covering mine with fabric I've just used pelmet vilene which I dyed and added some metallic rub-ons and mica powders, then embellished it. I am going to do another one covering the vilene with fabric then embellishing it. This is a gift for someone but as I haven't posted much recetnly I couldn't wait to upload it. It'll still be a surprise anyway 'cos she doesn't know who she is ;-)

Birthday card

I made this card for a lady who goes to the same linedance class I go to on Wednesdays. She's actually 74! luckily I checked before I gave her the card. She's absolutely wonderful and in fact there are several ladies in their 70's who attend the class who look and move like people a lot younger ;-) I do love rubber stamping but I also like these cards with nice background papers and lovely flowers - quick and easy too, lol

Sock Dolls

I went to the Stitch + Cretaive Craft show at the GMEX (yes I know they call it Manchester Central now ;) but I think it'll always be the GMEX to me) on saturday with my friend Jan. It covers knitting stitching as well as cardmaking. But we didn't enjoy it as much as usual. there are far too many stalls now selling non-craft stuff, such as clothes and handbags. Also I think they'd given exhibitors less space as it was extrememly crowded and not pleasant fighting your way down the aisles. And as with some of the shows the seating in the food area was totally inadequate. Why on earth can't they have stacks of fold-up chairs round the perimeter agghh!
Anyway enough moaning! I bought very little which was a big help in my attempt to spend less this year. I did buy a book on Sock Dolls and yesterday my granddaughter wanted to make one! So together we made this rabbit. We did use some socks of mine but I think if I make any more I'll buy new socks as old ones are either discoloured or full of bobbles/pills whatever you call them x

Snow in Ossett

2 piccies from my verandah this morning. It looks lovely while it's like this, I just hate it when it gets icy - extremely hazardous.
I'm looking forward to the Stitch & Creative Crafts show in Manchester this weekend :) - Just hope the snow clears so the trains will run!!
Ooh I really really want some Cadbury's mini Creme Eggs right now!

Sunday Stampers

Sunday Stampers http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/ theme for this week is Black + Gold. I decided to help my birthday card pile along though I haven't put a greeting on yet I'#ve just realised I should have put some coloured card behind this when scanning :-/

A Few Birthday Cards

I'm trying to get all my birthday cards done for the year; have only managed a few so far ;) The name on the 70th one isn't misspelled (misspelt?) BTW. These 3 are quick and easy cards really, you just need some nice paper and lovely flowers. The background papers for all 3 were downloaded from a vey generous lady at http://summertimedesigns.blogspot.com/ xx

Sunday Stampers week 41

This week's theme for Sunday Stampers @ http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/ is My Favourite Things so I printed off a piccy of my grandkids and stamped party hats on them, and the word family :) The pic is rubbish as it was a copy of a photo so has not scanned well :(

Mermaid

This is the mermaid I made for DS's fiancee for Christmas. I used the same fabric for the whole thing but on the right side it has gold lines which I've used for the tail. For the rest of the mermaid I used the fabric the wrong side out xx

Not cards!

I've made a bauble for DS's fiancee as she has lots of tree decorations that people bring her back from their holidays. She only wanted some money but I think it's nice to have a little something to open. I used a polystyrene ball which I made slits in (like orange segments) and then pushed material into the slits (not my idea), covered the joins with ribbon then added some beads. I also made a Christmas sack for DD's kind of step-granddaughter. I think the images are too small for the sack so did start to make a little Santa outfit to sew on, but DD liked the images and wanted them on. I used 1 metre of fur fabric for the sack, I already had some white fur fabric which I used at the top and for the 'snow'.
Merry Christmas to all xx
PS won some blog candy from Jennie at http://www.theartisticstamper.blogspot.com/ after emailing her my addy yesterday at 13.50 my fab chipboard flowers arrived this morning :) YES! this morning!!! So I have to congratulate Snail Mail today lol.

Sunday Stampers

The colour theme for this week's Sunday Stampers at http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/ is 'red, gold + green' I've used a little gold embossing powder over some of the text and gold Krylon pen round the edges. I've also done the 'brown + blue' for week 38 For this one I used Ecoline inks to colour the card

More Christmas cards

A few more Christmas cards for your perusal and hopefully enjoyment ;)

Birthday cards

I've not had time to, or perhaps more correctly made the time, upload pics of what I've been doing. Here are a few birthday cards I've made in recent weeks. I did add a handle to the handbag card. I'm behind on some challenges but now the Christmas cards are just about done - had a request for another 2 the other day and need to make some for the craft group I go to - so hopefull I'll get other things done. Started another wrapped-wire doll last night, hopefully it'll be an improvement on the first one ;)

Tim is doing a fab project, namely 12 Tags of Christmas; this is something he did last year and has been begged by so many to do it again this year. Today is day 2. Well it's that time again

Time for the Sunday Stamper's challenge over at Hel's place http://pinkleart.blogspot.com/ Yes I know it's Monday today :) I couldn't sleep last night so I got up about 3.15 :O I made a tag first but overstamped the edges so wan't happy with it. I was going to post it anyway but decided to do something else and made this 'topper' for a card. I kept looking at the tag and decided to chop a bit off, then a bit more then a bit more, the result being now I can't use it :-/ Can't remember whether I first sprayed the cardstock with Strawberry Daquiri Memories Mist (I had used it on the tag) but definitely used Shake'n'Spray Jaffalicious by Craftynotions (like the Glimmer Mists) and a little Glimmer Mist Gold
