(I was just trying out some fabric paint to see if they worked). There are specially produced paints for this; Pebeo Setacolor Soleil being one; but I'd read that you can use other paints. The yellow I used is Dylon Fabric Paint and the green (though it looks more turquise here) is Colourcraft Opaques Fabric Paint. If you've never done this before it's very simple. Just wet your fabric (don't saturate it) then brush paint on. Place a stencil, leaves/grass, cut out paper shapes, anything you like really that will create a pattern, on top and leave it in the sun till the fabric is dry, et voila!Also sharing a card I've made for my friend. I printed the greeting on the computer using the 'glow' facility in Word which adds a little glow round the letters, added a bit of distress ink to the centre of the card then stamped the owl with black ink.

We only had a bit of sun when I did the fabric, it was in and out, but enough to do the job :-)

This has been on my "want" list since forever (at least two years, and have never found any paint that will work. I've never even heard of the two you used. I really enjoyed this post because it gives me hope that there are other paints out there that might actually work with this process, since I have never seen the Pebeo around here. Of course, I'm sure you can get it on the internet, but I don't shop there. So, my interest has been renewed, thanks to you you, dear Anne.
Hello Anne, found your blog while checking out the calendar art from Kathryn Cranes blog. I'm also a Scouser -in - Exile, -I'm in Norfolk (UK) and like you I love both paper and stitchy arts. Though my journalling is way behind your level, I suppose I'm more textiles....having said that....oh dear, you see my problem? When I'm doing one I feel I ought to be doing the other!
