Completing UFOs

I'm trying to complete some UFOs - Unfinished Objects to the unintiated ;)  I don't think papercrafters have as many as people who work with fabric, though I could be wrong.  I've got some that have been hanging around for years!  But this isn't one of those.  I've completed the felt vessel I started a couple of months ago, I've just added some fancy knitting yarn and a felt flower with some leaves.  It's approx 4" high and circumference 15".  For those who haven't seen it before I made the felt myself using the wet felting method :)

WOYWW or Yes it is Wednesday already Julia hehe

If you're not with the programme yet pop over to mine host Julia and get with it.  It's all about showing what is currently on you workdesk, messy or tidy we don't mind.  On mine are the stamps I received from Susie + Vikki for winning the Christmas Club challenge last week and some lovely stamped Christmas images.  There's a card in the making for my nephew, the first aid box I'm in the middle of tarting up which has various bits pieces piled on top.
I'm including a picture of the finished tree complete with apples; whadda ya mean they look like cherries! xx

I didn't make the little green apples, but I'm sure there is such a thing as Dr Seuss and Disneyland

This is the first completed apple for my tree (scroll down to WOYWW) - I have made 6 others but they don't have the stalks on yet.  there are leaves to be made too.  For an apple it makes a good cherry don't you think? hehe  It's made from felt including the stalk, well for those into felting I feel I have to say the outside layer is some synthetic fibre which you can't wet felt but you can needle-felt it (needle felt, needlefelt needle-felt - take your pick).I think the apple is fine but not sure about the placement of them on the tree as I may not actually make any mor so think the placement will be important as there will be so few.
I thought I'd take this opportunity to show you a felt vessel I'm making.  I did this in the early hours of the morning as I couldn't sleep, the only bit I've done today is the stitching on the rolled edge.  I think I finally dropped off about 6am! only to be woken by someone knocking on the d**n  door at 8am grrrrr!  I've stuffed it with paper to help shape it.  It needs a bit of embellishment yet.
If you don't understand the title but would like to know what I'm on about look here xx

Ooh I haven't blogged for ages!!

I have been busy though ;) Some of the things I've made recently I'll hopefully be able to post next week as 2 of them are winging their way to friends. I've also been to Lake Garda recently and will upload some piccies at a later date. For now though I'm posting some recent cards and a felt peg-bag. I bought some pieces of merino wool - already knitted but cut up pieces from a fab fabric shop in Dewsbury http://www.fabworks.co.uk/ I felted them in the washing machine and made up the bag, I also used some of the wool for the flowers which I felted onto the bag using my needle felting machine
http://www.pfaffsewingmachinesdirect.co.uk/pfaff_embellishers.htm
The beauty of this machine is that you can make things without sewing - for those who 'can't ' sew. I did stitch the orange piece of felt to the blue, but the back seam was made just using the felting machine. I did this 'cos I couldn't be bothered getting the sewing machine out again after felting the flowers on LOL

Felt butterfly

I've made a felt butterfly for the Butterfly Project http://www.hmh.org/minisite/butterfly/index.html After finding I was over £100 in credit, Yippee!! ,when I changed my energy supplier I decided to treat myself to an embellisher/needle punch machine. For those not familiar with these machines, they don't use thread - something for all you non-stitchers maybe ;) - they have several felting needles which are barbed, which mesh fabrics together. For the butterfly I used a piece of white felt for the base then felted wool and yarns on top. I did the embellishing before cutting the butterfly out. I can't decide whether to put anything else onto it - buttons, sequins, flowers?
