This is what I've been up to this weekend

I've had a fantastic weekend doing a character painting workshop with Dyan at afth There were 5 of us doing the workshop and everyone produced a unique and totally different character.  As usual I liked everybody else's better than my own :-/ But as I can't paint or draw I don't think it's too bad, I am happy with it - she's Miss Goody Two Shoes and she's got a really big head; that wasn't intentional!  There is more colour on the background than is showing here.  We all had a wonderful time, Dyan is marvellous I love the stuff she produces and her workshops are ace!  Dyan has brought out her own range of dye-based colour wash sprays, they're fab colours so if you like the Adirondak colour washes check out Dyan's.
Not sure about the crown, may take if off and make her a tiara.

Sounds like you had a great time, I wouldnt change it, great colours. My local craft shop in having a ranger day and of course it is the same day my son gets married, that would be my luck.

She is lovely :) I did a Suzi Blu petite doll class online and I did the same thing as you... positioned the arms behind the back so I didn't have to try and draw the forearms or the hands, lol! I love her dress and the motifs on it, and her face and hair are really pretty. I keep thinking I should try to get to one of Dyan's workshops, it's just such a trek from down here :(

Wow! WOuld love to have had a stab at this...I think it's probably not right to say you can't paint or draw. Goody two shoes kinda says otherwise!

You can draw a whole lot better than you give yourself credit for. I'm the one who can't even draw a snowman (three circles), so don't say you can't draw. Besides, you TRIED and that is the important thing.

Hmm, I feel that people will think I'm just being coy about not being able to paint or draw, but really I can't. Ok I can draw a reasonable face and I can draw a flowers (but have to take great care), stars, just simple shapes but that's about it. But you'll notice the legs are straight as are the arms and there are no hands. If I was to try to draw any animal it REALLY would look like a child's drawing; honestly! At the workshop we practised eyes only on scrap paper then the rest of the face; we did this lots of times. I've also had practice drawing eyes on my dolls. The rest of Goody Two Shoes shape is very basic. As for the painting, Dyan talked us through each step carefully and demonstrated as we went so I think anybody could achieve what I have unless you can't even draw a star ;-)
Thank you all for your wonderful comments.

Well, that's one thing about art Anne, it's what ever you do, how ever you do it, it's yours,no body else's, unique, and something you've created and I think it's fabulous!

This is brilliant Anne! I think the beauty of rubber stamping is that you don't need to be able to draw or paint, so there's a lot of us in your position. I'd love to do a class like this, & to have the confidence to have a go! Well done you! x
